To respond to the urgent needs of people displaced by conflict and seeking sanctuary in Wales, Community Foundation Wales has launched the Nation of Sanctuary Croeso Fund.

Monies raised will support charities, community groups and organisations working with people displaced by conflict who have arrived in Wales; providing them with essential items and helping them to settle in their new surroundings.

Our extensive knowledge of grassroots and third sector organisations means we can reach the charities and community groups that provide this kind of support, quickly and efficiently.

All donations to the fund will go towards these organisations, ensuring that when individuals and families arrive in Wales, they can get the support they need and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

To ensure the funding really goes to where it is needed, we are consulting with the Welsh organisations that directly support people displaced by conflict and seeking sanctuary to assess their immediate and ongoing needs. We will be as flexible as possible to ensure funding reaches these organisations as quickly as is possible.

Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Community Foundation Wales said:

“We are pleased to announce the launch of our Nation of Sanctuary Croeso Fund and would like to give a huge thank you to Jane Hutt and Welsh Government for their generous donation of £1,000,000.

With the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Ukraine, this support is urgently needed as Wales becomes home to the many people fleeing to safety.

Through this fund we will be able to support the grassroots community groups already working with refugees and asylum seekers to provide essential items to enable displaced people who have arrived, or will arrive, in Wales to get back on their feet.

We are appealing to people and businesses to donate to the Nation of Sanctuary Croeso Fund so that we can help provide vital support to people displaced by conflict and seeking sanctuary in Wales.”
