The National Lottery Community funded Carmarthenshire LGBTQ+ Project, is proud to announce that they’re organising a Pride Walk with a Pop Up Pride.
This event will be taking place during Pride month on the 11th June 2022, starting at 10am and running until 1pm, in Carmarthen Park, Carmarthen.
Project is managed by Carmarthenshire based Social Enterprise, and Vince Brinton, the Event Organiser said:
“The event will include a walk around Carmarthen Park, with accessible routes, where people can wave flags and hold banners in support of LGBTQ+ people.”
“A Pop up Pride will provide space for local and wider organisations and LGBTQ+ owned businesses to display their opportunities, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“We’re also planning to use the bottom bandstand of the park, for entertainment and have the amazing Diana D leading the acts.”
“There will also be a sign language interpreter present for accessibility for the announcements.”
This event is also being held in memoriam of Kate Rees nee Boyt, who tragically and unexpectedly passed away in 2021
Kate’s mother, Norma said:
“Kate was a free spirit; she was born too late to be a hippy, but she embraced the ideals of that time.”
“She believed that everyone had the right to be who they wanted to be and to love whoever they loved. Although always identifying as straight she was an ardent and active “straight ally” supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and had many friends and colleagues therein.”
“She would have wanted us to carry on her support in some way and it was an easy decision to donate a portion of her memorial fund to local LGBTQ+ organisations in order to celebrate and promote the cause she held dear.”
“We look forward to being part of future events as we know Kate will be there in spirit.”
The event is open everyone, with no cost for entry, and parking is easily available via the many car parks around the town.
