Multi-award-winning festival, The Green Gathering, will be showcasing lots of unique content and innovative ideas to improve life and lift the spirits.  Pulling out all the stops in celebration of its’ 10th Birthday, The Green Gathering takes place from 4th – 7th August 2022, at charming beauty spot, Piercefield Park, near Chepstow.

With the permission of the guardians of Piercefield Park, festival organisers and volunteers have been busy planting a grove of trees on the site, to encourage biodiversity and create a peaceful space for festival-goers to relax.  Phase one, the inner circle, is now complete with an outer circle to follow next year.  Species include oak, hazel, blackthorn, birch and crab apple.

Living up to the festival’s pledge to promote female artists, and announced on International Women’s Day, some of the fabulous female artists to take in at The Green Gathering 2022 include Hands of the Heron, a trio from Bristol that moves effortlessly between sparse choral folk and spellbinding chamber pop, Little Sparrow, a gifted songwriter with a flawless voice, BBC Introducing singer-songwriter Anne-Marie Allen, singing songs of finding freedom and meaning with a distinctive soulful tone and deep audience connection and Maditronique – Welsh powerhouse MADI creates electro art-pop for weirdos!  A theatrical show with songs that stay in your head for days.

Green Gathering Festival

Following a national conversation about festivals and periods sparked by Cardiff-based musician, Francesca Dimech, the festival team is very pleased to introduce ‘Moon Loos’, dedicated loos for people having periods for the extra comfort of visitors.  Including ideas and suggestions crowdsourced from the festival community, the loos will be well-lit with a private area for handwashing and washing reusable period wear.

Beyond the Festival

The Green Gathering is well known for its outstanding commitment to reducing the festival’s environmental impact and creating positive change.  Beyond the Festival was a recent collaboration between Green Gathering, Hoffi (experts in user-centred design) and Cardiff University’s Festival Research Group. Together they researched the potential to use innovative screen-based technologies to effectively engage wider audiences with environmental, sustainability and climate change issues.

Beyond the Festival has inspired additional online, year-round content utilising Green Gathering’s digital platforms to promote positive lifestyle changes and practices across the events industry in Wales and beyond.

“A move from ‘sustainable’, which suggests doing the bare minimum, to ‘regenerative’ practice is needed to get our planet back on track”

 Em Weirdigan, Green Gathering Director
