We all know that our diets and lifestyles can have a huge impact on our relationships with family and friends – and of course, with our romantic partners.
Whether it’s navigating diet changes together as a couple, or finding a new partner, diet is increasingly becoming a key factor in many people’s love lives.
Myvegan surveyed 2,000 UK adults to discover how our diet and lifestyle choices affect our dating lives, comparing experiences of those with vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, flexitarian and omnivorous diets: https://www.myvegan.com/blog/lifestyle/revealed-how-diet-lifestyle-affects-our-dating-life/
We found that…
- Vegans are the most likely to argue with a partner over diet (17.7%) while vegetarians are the most likely to break up (10%).
- Vegans are the least likely to date somebody with a different diet, with only 61.3% being open to the idea. Vegetarians are the most likely (76.7%).
- Pescatarians are the most likely to persuade a partner to change their diet (19.2%), followed by vegans (17.7%).
- Vegetarians are the most likely to have changed their diet for a partner (14.7%) followed by vegans (14.5%).
- Over half of vegans (52.6%) say they would be less attracted to somebody because of their diet.
The survey also dug into the qualities and traits people find most attractive in a potential partner. 61.3% of both vegans and vegetarians say diet is important, compared to just 26.6% for the average Brit (and 19.7% of meat-eaters). These same groups were also the most politically minded, with 75.8% and 59.3% respectively saying political views are important (vs. 41.8% for the average Brit and 35.8% for meat eaters).
