Top 50 Influential Women Over 50: Female, Fifty and Fabulous!

Kaleidoscope has put together a list of 50 influential women over 50 and have split them into five industry categories: TVFilmFashion & BeautyMusic and Sport.

Using a weighted rank, the list of women for each category was ranked using their follow count on social media, their net worth, the number of years they’ve been active in their industry and indicators of their success measured by their number of awards and their annual revenue.

  • Nicole Kidman is the most influential woman in film, followed by Jane Fonda.
  • Oprah Winfrey is the most influential woman in TV, followed by Halle Berry.
  • Miuccia Prada is the most influential woman in fashion and beauty, followed by Anna Wintour.
  • Madonna is the most influential woman in music, followed by Dolly Parton.
  • Billie Jean King is the most influential woman in sport, followed by Martina Navratilova

With International Women’s Day just around the corner, Kaleidoscope wanted to celebrate some of the world’s most influential women who are aged fifty and over. These women have not only been paving the way for their industry but have within their own right become icons across the word of TV, Film, Fashion, Music and Sport.

To give these women the recognition they deserve, Kaleidoscope ranked them within their own industry category to see how influential they really are.

Television

Within their list of top ten influential women over fifty in Television, host, actress, writer, and icon Oprah Winfrey came out on top. This was due to her 63,300,000 followers (making her the most followed woman across all categories), $3,500,000,00 net worth and 49 years in the industry. Previous Bond girl Halle Berry came in second, and Friends star Jennifer Anniston in third.



Although she has zero followers on social media, Tina Fey has won 56 awards, making her the most awarded women on this list.  Tina fey is a writer and actor most known for writing the noughties teen classic Mean Girls and her role on American TV show, SNL.


Film

Amongst Kaleidoscope’s top ten women in film, Nicole Kidman took the top spot. This was down to her huge net worth of $250,000,000 and a combination of her 8,000,000 followers, 39 years of acting and 102 awards. Nicole Kidman has starred in many iconic films including The Golden CompassBatman Forever and Eyes Wide Shut. Jane Fonda came in second.


Despite taking the third spot, Meryl Streep is the most decorated actress in Kaleidoscope’s list with 177 awards. Meryl Streep is a Hollywood favourite across the world having starred in iconic movies such as The Devil Wears PradaDeath Becomes HerMamma Mia and The Iron Lady.



Fashion & Beauty

Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada came out as the number one influential women in fashion and beauty with a whopping net worth of $5 billion. This also makes her the woman with the highest net worth across every category. Miuccia Prada is responsible for the luxury designer brand Prada and Miu Miu.


Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief at Vogue, and 72-year-old wedding dress designer Vera Wang came in second and third.



Music

It’s no surprise that Madonna come out on top as the most influential woman in music, especially having a net worth of $850,000,000. Madonna’s career has span over 43 years and she has adapted her musical stylings to every decade on the way – going from a chart topping 80’s pop idol to starring on modern tracks such as Dua Lipa’s Levitating (2020). Madonna was followed by two other music legends – Dolly Parton and Cher.



Despite being third on the list, Cher takes the deserved top spot as the most decorated artist on our list with 300+ industry awards. Surprisingly, Proud Mary singer Tina Turner hasn’t yet broke a million social media followers, but she still has a net worth of $250,000,000 and 160 awards.

Although second on this list, Dolly Parton takes the overall top spot across categories as having the been in their industry the longest at 66 years.



Sport

Top tennis player Billie Jean King made the top of Kaleidoscope’s list of influential sports women. As well as having 640,800 followers and 31 years in the game, she is most famously known for taking part in the infamous ‘Battle of the Sexes’ against Bobby Riggs in 1973.

Although second in Kaleidoscope’s list, tennis player Martina Navratilova takes the number one spot for most awards, having gained 167 of them.

Despite having 0 followers on social media, tennis star Steffi Graf has a net worth of a whopping $145,000,000 and 107 awards.
