Working from home and working in the office have one big thing in common. They can both make you sick or better depending on the indoor environment. It’s often easier to control this at home, but it’s also possible to do it in your office with a little work.
Environmental specialist Douglas Mulhall has uncovered that there is much more than what meets the eye when it comes to the causes of heart disease and other sicknesses. Our environment plays a significant role which is often overlooked when looking at health factors.
“By far the most important things to control are indoor air quality and chronic noise. The problem is that buildings concentrate both. The number one thing you can do about it is get yourself a high quality portable air purifier and sit it next to where you work. You can make sure the air filters in your air conditioner, heat pump or ventilation system are high quality and clean. It’s the best investment you’ll make in your health and well-being,” says Mulhall.
You’d be surprised at how many “small” things can be overlooked in our environment that in reality have an “unprecedented” impact on our health, especially when it comes to heart disease.
Mulhall goes on to say, “As far as chronic noise is concerned, instead of generic headphones get a good noise canceling headset. It’s easier than telling your colleagues to keep quiet! Remember this: chronic indoor air pollution and noise are leading contributors to heart disease, so save yourself a heart attack. Get an air purifier and super-quiet headphones!”
