Around the world, there is no shortage of competitions celebrating the world. From the UK to Japan and even Cyprus, there is an abundance of cultures indulging in the beauty of the world.

That’s why DiscoverCars have ranked some of the unique competitions around the world that celebrate the cities and villages, analysing a total of 196 countries and ranking the very best competitions, exploring a wide range of contests, including garden and village competitions. 

Below are five of the world’s best awards or competitions that actively celebrate the world around us.

Wiltshire’s Best Kept Village (England)

Starting in the UK, Wiltshire’s competition has seen 28 different villages enter, all competing for the prestigious title of Wiltshire’s Best Kept Village.

The prize for the winner is not only the title, but the winning village also receives an eight-foot mounted shield to be displayed on their village green until the next winner has been crowned.

Let Glasgow Flourish Awards (Scotland)

Next on the list, Glasgow holds an annual competition as they aim to crown the most beautiful garden in the city. 

Throughout the competition, there are three different awards up for grabs; Best Community Garden, Best Young Gardener, and Glasgow’s Best Garden. 

Kamares Spring Garden and Flower Competition (Greece)

The next competition on the list is another garden-focused contest. Held in Greece, the competition takes place in the areas of Tala, Koili, and Tsada.

The winners can expect an invitation to a cocktail ceremony at the Kamares Club with the competition categories including ‘Best Large Gardens’ and ‘Best Hanging Basket Flowers’.

Prettiest Painted Places in America (United States)

Held in Ohio, America’s unique competition is sponsored by the Paint Quality Institute. 

Residents compete for the title of the prettiest painted place in the US. The competition has already seen contestants from all parts of the country, including Cambridge and Wooster.

International Bouquet Competition (Monaco)

Lastly, a competition that observes natural beauty as flower arrangements takes place in Monaco every year. 

Competitors aim to piece together the most picturesque floral arrangement. The competition is open to anyone who wants to take part.
