THERE will be some disruption to bin collections in Carmarthenshire over the Spring and Platinum Jubilee bank holidays.
Blue bags, black bags and food bins will not be collected on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, and householders are being advised to put out on their next scheduled blue or black collection day. Food bins are collected weekly.
Black bags, blue bags and food waste can also be taken to any of the recycling centres in Trostre (Llanelli), Nantycaws (Carmarthen), Wernddu (Ammanford), and Whitland, which are all open as normal on the bank holidays. Please remember to book an appointment on the council website.
The council is intending to collect hygiene waste and garden waste on these days, although crews are likely to start earlier than usual so householders are advised to put out their waste the night before collection day. Please keep an eye on the council Facebook page for any updates as this could be subject to change in some areas at short notice.
Glass bottles and jars can be recycled at the nearest bottle bank, visit the recycling pages on the council website for locations.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Director of Environment Ainsley Williams said: “We apologise to residents for any inconvenience caused. We are currently in negotiations with our crews and the unions in relation to pay scales which unfortunately means that we are not in a position to carry out our main bin collections over the bank holidays. We are proactively engaging with the workforce and unions and hope to reach a resolution as soon as possible.”
