Eager to provide some inspiration on ways to spend it outdoors, experts at Cazaar.co.uk [https://cazaar.co.uk] decided to find out the most Instagrammable picnic spots throughout the UK, which was achieved by extracting a seed list of 21 popular picnic locations and collecting the number of hashtags each had generated.

The title of the most Insta-worthy picnic spot in the UK goes to the magnificent Chatsworth House with a total of 127,319 hashtags on the social media platform. But that’s not the only media presence of this destination, as it has also been used as a filming location quite a few times. Some of the movies shot there include Pride and Prejudice, The Duchess and the series Peaky Blinders.

Second place goes to Lyndhurst, which generated 110,353 hashtags on Instagram. The village serves as an unofficial capital of the New Forest and is a popular tourist attraction. An interesting fact about Lyndhurst is that it was established as a royal hunting ground in 1079 by William the Conqueror.

And with 96,238 Instagram hashtags, in third place is Tatton Park. Located in Knutsford, this historic estate has been a part of the National Trust since 1958. The estate comprises a neo-classical mansion, landscaped gardens, a deer park, a rare breed farm and a medieval Old Hall.

And the least Insta-worthy picnic spot is…

Having a total of only 954 hashtags (126,365 less than Chatsworth House in first place), Holkham Beach in Norfolk places last in the study.

George Nesna, director of Cazaar.co.uk, provides seven useful tips for a perfect picnic

1. Ensure your food doesn’t spill everywhere and is easy to transport by using lidded glass jars when preparing your picnic basket, which is also a great way to be more environmentally friendly.
2. In order to have a more sustainable picnic, try to pack real plates and, if that’s not an option, bring compostable disposable plates with you.
3. If possible, use beeswax wraps for your food. These are reusable, compostable and biodegradable.
4. Have a cool box with you so you can keep the food fresh and the drinks ice cold.
5. Pack some fun board games to play – there won’t be a single moment of boredom!
6. Don’t forget to bring wet wipes for cleaning your hands, or even plates, and bin bags as well, so that all rubbish can be easily disposed of.
7. Pack a chopping board for your picnic – it’s always handy to have a flat surface to chop or place food on.

Methodology

1. Cazaar.co.uk [https://cazaar.co.uk] sought to find out the most Instagrammable picnic spot in the UK.
2. A comprehensive seed list of 21 popular picnic destinations was extracted from Countryfile.
3. Following this, each picnic spot was manually inputted into Instagram utilising the search variation #picnicspotname and the number of hashtags generated was recorded. Search variations, such as: #lyndhurstnewforest, #sevensisterscliffs and #chatsworthhousegardens were used in order to obtain accurate results.
4. All locations were then ranked based on the amount of hashtags they had generated, so that the most Instagrammable picnic spot could be determined.
