It was revealed that adults in the UK consume 22 million takeaway meals every week, with many of these meals being consumed on the go.
DiscoverCars.com, therefore, wanted to look into which takeaways are the most suitable to eat in the car. To establish the best takeaways for eating in the car, they looked at factors like the type of drinks cups that are provided and their most popular kinds of packaging.

DiscoverCars.com then assigned each takeaway restaurant a number out of 70. The top 5 takeaway restaurants were:
- Greggs
In first place was Greggs, which is a food chain based in the United Kingdom scoring 56 out of 70 points. Can You Get has a drive-through, offers its customers pots rather than sachets and the drinks packaging comes as a plastic bottle.
- Domino’s
Domino’s is a successful pizza restaurant chain that scored 50 out of 70 points and was founded by Tom Monaghan. Their main package type is a cardboard box and they have a drive-through.
- Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut, which was first opened in Kansas by two brothers, ranked in third place and scored 49 out of 70 points. They offer their customers pots instead of bags and their outer packaging is a box.
- Pizza Express
In joint third place was Pizza Express which specializes in handmade pizza and scored 49 out of 70 points. They use pots rather than sauce sachets and their outer packaging comes as a box.
- KFC
Finally, ranking in fifth place was KFC scoring 48 out of 70 points. The franchise was founded in 1952 in Utah by Colonel Sanders and Pete Harman. Their outer packaging comes as a bag and their drinks packaging come as cardboard drinks cups.
Other takeaways that were placed in the top 10 included Costa Coffee (46 points), McDonald’s (45 points), Burger King (45 points), Toby Carvery (44 points), and finally Krispy Kreme (43 points).
