Family owned Penhein Glamping in Monmouthshire has launched a dedicated Go Wild family break to max out summer adventures for families wanting to roam free and switch off. A two night midweek Go Wild break starts from £345 this summer for a family of five and includes a complimentary Young Explorers Activity Pack for bookings and stay between now and 31st August 2022.

For adults and kids wanting to carve out time in nature, to relax and run wild, then fall asleep smelling of woodsmoke in the comfiest of beds in a luxury Persian yurt, the new Go Wild break invites families to take the Penhein six steps to serene wildness.

Families can book in for a few nights or stay for a week whilst ticking off the six simple steps guaranteed to set them free from screens and return them to the joy of slow, simple pleasures.

Step 1 – Digital Detox – there is no wi-fi or TV and the accommodation is off-grid so opting in to Penhein’s new ‘digital detox challenge’ is the first wild step. Surrender your screens to Penhein’s Digital Device Lock Box on arrival to make the stay totally disconnected from the outside world. Whilst this is optional this process is becoming increasingly more popular with parents and kids alike as they soon realise the joys of screen free time together.

Step 2 – Run Wild – set the kids free to roam the 450 acres. There is an adventure playground, rope swings, a crate of outdoor games, a brook for paddling and eight acres of wildflower meadow perfect for picnics, frolics, kite flying and hiding out. For woodland adventures there are over 1,000 acres adjoined to the farm, Wentwood Forest, the oldest in Wales!

Step 3 –Go Bush – getting wise in the wild is easy here with each family receiving a free Young Explorers Activity Pack as part of their Go Wild break enabling the kids to get out exploring the site collecting and collating all their wild finds. Or take the Penhein Wildlife Challenge (age 8+) developed in conjunction with Gwent Wildlife Trust.

For a small additional cost (£35 a child for a half day) the Penhein Junior or Family Bushcraft course is a fun way to learn survival skills and give parents a few hours off, or they can join in. The wildlings will learn about building different shelters and lighting fires without matches in the woods as well as making campfire bread on a stick.

Step 4 – Eating ‘al fresco’ – tasty food in wild surroundings is a key part of the Penhein experience with well stocked cupboards full of cooking essentials, spring water, a wood-burning stove for brewing the morning cuppa, a firepit outside and access to the ‘cheats’ kitchen’ for those moments when the food needs delivering a little bit quicker using electric. For wild nights under the stars there are communal outdoor seating areas with new firepits from FirepitsUK for social gatherings.

Step 5 – Build a Den – kids can seek out the Hearn’s Hideaway, a secret hideout for little ones to plot wild plans. Or there are den building materials for those who want to construct their own and create something unique.

Step 6 – Sleep under the stars – sleep off all that wildness in one of eight spacious Persian ‘Alachigh’ tents, totally off grid with high domes and skylights for stargazing, tucked away in a peaceful and private corner of coppiced woodland. There’s enough room for two adults and up to four kids in a double, two truckle beds and a sofa bed. There are private ensuite flushing loos and three of the tents have ensuite showers, with the remaining accommodation having access to a dedicated shower room and even a roll top bath.

Price: A two night midweek Go Wild break starts from £345 this summer, based on up to five people and includes a complimentary Young Explorers Activity Pack for bookings and stay between 6th June and 31st August 2022.

The Junior or Family Bushcraft half day session costs up to £35 per person depending on the size of the family. For more information on all wild activities at Penhein visit https://www.penhein.co.uk/things-to-do/adventures-at-penhein-farm
