Rolls-Royce is the UK’s favourite car brand, according to new research.
The study by car leasing comparison site Leasing.com analysed a recent YouGov survey which asked the public which car brands they had heard of and which they liked.
It found that Rolls-Royce is the UK’s favourite brand, with 92% of survey respondents saying they had heard of the brand and 71.74% saying that they liked it. Initially founded in 1906, it’s one of the oldest brands, producing luxury cars for more than a century. The company’s current line-up of vehicles includes the Ghost, Wraith, Dawn, Phantom, and Cullinan.
Coming in second place is Aston Martin, the UK-founded manufacturer of sports cars and grand tourers. 94% of survey respondents had heard of the brand, with 68.09% having a favourable opinion of it. The brand has seen involvement in motorsports, most notably Formula 1, since being founded in 1913. Aston Martin currently produces the DB11, DBS, DBX, Valkyrie, and Vantage.
Jaguar takes third place, with 98% of respondents having heard of the brand and 67.35% had a positive opinion of it. The British-founded brand has existed since 1922 and is now part of Jaguar Land Rover’s merged brand. Jaguar currently produces the E-Pace, F-Pace, F-Type, I-Pace, XE and XF.
Audi and Ferrari were found to be the brands most known from the survey, which 64.65% of respondents having a positive opinion of Audi and 62.63% having a positive view of Ferrari. These brands, along with Mercedes-Benz and Ford, were the only non-UK-founded brands on the list.

Morgan was found to be the least known brand, with only 54% of respondents hearing of it. However, 64.81% of those who had heard of it liked the brand, giving it the fifth-place spot in the list.
Commenting on the findings, Dave Timmis from Leasing.com said: “The assortment of UK car brands in this list highlights that it’s not only the quality of cars that can affect public opinion of a brand but also the history as well. With the inclusion of luxury, more expensive brands like Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce compared to more consumer-focused brands; the UK public doesn’t need to own a car to have a positive opinion of it.”
