Rates of people having active health insurance policies drop drastically in the 25-34 age category from 63.5% having insurance from ages 18-24 to only 58.5% having insurance, according to a study conducted by Zelros. The 25-34 age category has the lowest rates of having active health insurance policies out of all age groups.

The study, which surveyed over 1,000 people spanning the US, UK, Canada and parts of Europe, also showed that men are more likely to have health insurance than women. 75.4% of men surveyed said that they have health insurance, while only 60.9% of women reported that they have health insurance.

These gender and age gaps in insurance coverage are serious, but they are not irreversible. Zelros is using artificial intelligence and machine learning to anticipate these discrepancies and provide insurers with information like this so that more people can get the coverage they need.

“Gender gaps in insurance, and as a whole in society, require modern solutions to reduce the gap and create a more balanced and equitable society,” explains Linh C. Ho, Chief Marketing Officer at Zelros. “AI and ML technology is making it so gender gaps in insurance can get noticed and reduced, by making sure insurers can identify these gaps and provide solutions so all of their customers are equally insured.”

Founded in 2016 by Christophe Bourguignat, Fabien Vauchelles and Damien Philippon, Zelros is using artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology to help make sure more people are covered, are aware of their insurance policy needs and are given highly personalized recommendations when they need it. Zelros’ data allows them to help insurers provide policyholders with the right coverage for their needs as they occur in real-time.
