Three men have been jailed for a total of nine and a half years.

Officers discovered a cannabis factory inside an industrial unit in Pontypridd.

Inside the unit were 856 cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of between £299,600 and £898,800, and brothers Beqir Vata, 41, and Kujdesi Vata, 37, both from Pontypridd.

An investigation by the Mid Glamorgan Organised Crime Team saw the men charged and remanded.

Such was the strength of evidence against them that they both pleaded guilty to the production of Class B cannabis.

Both were to prison for 45 months on Friday (July 1 2022) at Merthyr Crown Court.

As a result of enquires conducted at an address in Gloucester, a third brother was identified.

Milazim Vata, 23, was arrested. Located under his bed were vacuum packed bags of cannabis weighing over 11kg of cannabis with the potential street value of £137,500.

Milazim Vata pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class B cannabis and received a custodial sentence of 25 months.

DS Lia Jones said:

“Tackling illegal drug supply on our streets is a priority as this kind of criminal activity has a hugely detrimental impact on our communities.
“Officers in our unit are determined to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups involved in the supply of drugs and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
“Information from the community is vital in our fight against drugs and I would urge anyone with any information on drug dealing to please tell us or Crimestoppers what they know.”

Anyone with any information on drug supply
