Popular South Wales store raises thousands for NSPCC 

A popular department store in South Wales has notched up a double landmark as it celebrates its 125-year anniversary while reaching a new milestone in donations to the NSPCC.

 Leekes department chain, which has stores in Cardiff, Llantrisant and Cross Hands, recently raised £15,000 for the children’s charity at an annual Golf and Spa event at the Vale Resort. This brought the total cash raised by the firm for the NSPCC to over £350,000.

For more than 15 years, through a series of tough challenges and activities including golf days, cycle rides, treks, hikes and marathons, Managing Director Emma Leeke has galvanised generous support from the people in her business and associated supply chains.

Emma, who is a member of the charity’s Wales Appeal Board, said: “I am delighted to be able to help the NSPCC with their fundraising work. The organisation provides such vital services for children in Wales who have suffered physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

“We are thrilled to have raised over £350,000 for the NSPCC since they became Leekes’ nominated charity. This year’s Golf and Spa Day was a terrific success and I’d like to give a massive thank you to all our suppliers who attended or donated and helped support this very worthy cause. We are already looking forward to next year.”
