The Summer of Fun has kicked off in Ceredigion with 46 projects being financially supported to provide activities which will improve the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of all children and young people in the county.
Due to funding from Welsh Government, a variety of community-based interactive, creative, and play-based initiatives will be available for a wide range of ages.
The Summer of Fun will create safe places for free play and physical activity where children and young people can develop and/or rebuild their social skills. It will also encourage young people to engage in social, cultural, and physical activities outside of formal learning.
The Summer of Fun 2022, which will run for the second year, aims to provide all children and young people aged 0-25 in Wales with the opportunity to access free activities aimed at supporting their development and wellbeing.
Councillor Catrin M S Davies, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Customer Services, said: “The Summer of Fun funding from Welsh Government makes a huge difference to the Children and Young People of Ceredigion by enabling us to provide opportunities free of charge throughout the school holidays, and thus removing the potential barrier of affordability as the cost of living rises daily. It’s great to see such a range of activities being offered by a various organisations across Ceredigion – from the culture, art and craft worlds to games, sport and play. To see our county’s natural environment being used for the delivery of activities is fab as we live in such a beautiful place. We know that The Winter of Wellbeing was a huge success and we look forward to the Summer of Fun being equally if not more successful!”
