Hywel Dda Health Board: Measures reinstated at Glangwili Hospital due to increase in COVID-19 cases |

Following a formal review of COVID-19 activity in its hospitals, Hywel Dda University Health Board has taken the difficult decision to increase restrictive measures at Glangwili Hospital with immediate effect.

• Visiting to inpatients/wards is paused from Thursday 14th July, except for end-of-life visits and any visits considered necessary through agreement with the ward sister/charge nurse.
• People attending an outpatient appointment should attend alone unless they require the support of a carer/relative/parent.
• Restricted visiting in place for maternity, paediatrics and neonatal units:
  • Maternity – supportive partner presence will continue to be supported;
  • Paediatric – one main parent/carer at all times with ability to change over once during a 24-hour period;
  • Neonatal – Mum at all times with restricted partner visiting.

Mandy Rayani, Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience, said: “We have made the decision to reinforce these measures at Glangwili Hospital in addition to Withybush Hospital to reduce the risk to our patients and staff and thank people for their support and co-operation at this time.

“The situation at Glangwili and Withybush hospitals will be reviewed and updated early next week, lifting of these restrictions will be dependent on hospital case numbers and community activity. We can all continue to take protective measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 to protect vulnerable people and the NHS.

Visiting to Bronglais Hospital, Prince Philip Hospital and our community hospitals remains open, by appointment only.

“We strongly advise anyone in our locality who has the classic symptoms, or who suspects they may have COVID-19 to isolate and take an LFD test. If positive, we urge people to isolate – this will help you to rest and recover while protecting others from risk of transmission.”

Public health advice is to continue to isolate if you receive a positive result, either. for 10 days, or following two consecutive negative LFD results from days 5 and 6.
