Hope you’re well. A new study from Kuoni has revealed the most beautiful sights in the UK, with Edinburgh Castle taking the top spot, followed by Westminster Abbey and Liverpool Cathedral.

To unearth the most beautiful sights from around the world, luxury travel company Kuoni has analysed thousands of TripAdvisor reviews to find which places have the most mentions of  the word ‘beautiful’.  Looking at cities from all around the world, the results reveal where visitors should head to if they’re hoping to take in the most stunning sights.

The most beautiful sights around the world

The study results shows that the USA is home to the most beautiful sights globally, with three of the top ten most captivating sights featuring in the top 10. New York City’s Central Park tops the list, with a staggering 22,880 reviews mentioning the word ‘beautiful’, whilst 15,750 reviews hailing the Fountains of Bellagio in the world’s entertainment capital Las Vegas cement the landmark in third place.  The city is full of bright lights and captivating buildings but it’s the water feature that visitors find the most aesthetically pleasing.  The other American sight making the top ten is the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum in Seattle, Washington. The fascinating glass work on display throughout the exhibitions is certainly eye-catching and clearly leaves a lasting impression on visitors, with over 8,000 visitors naming the exhibition as ‘beautiful’.

Italy, Spain and Paris are home to the second, fourth and fifth most beautiful sights respectively with the Trevi Fountain, Basilica de la Sagrada Familia and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris all featuring as some of the top five most beautiful sights around the world. The Trevi Fountain, found in Rome, attracts millions of visitors each year, with the baroque style water-feature featuring exquisite detailing that needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame received 12,930 reviews describing it as beautiful, beating the likes of the Eiffel Tower and Sacré Coeur.

The UK’s most beautiful sights

Edinburgh’s eponymous castle takes the top spot as the UK’s must-see sight, with the Scottish capital’s landmark described as ‘beautiful’ by over 5,000 TripAdvisor reviews. The castle was built in the late 19th century in the Gothic style and is certainly an iconic building in the city skyline. Glasgow is another Scottish city home to one of the top five most beautiful sights in the UK, with the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum receiving an impressive 2,091 ‘beautiful’ reviews. The art gallery and museum have some seriously stunning architecture and is home to 22 galleries for people to discover art and history in.

Other sights making the UK’s top ten include Bournemouth Beach, its golden sands and stunning blue waters making it part of the UK coast that has caught a lot of visitors’ attention. Another seaside destination making the top ten is Brighton’s Royal Pavilion, with the former royal residence impressing thousands of visitors.

Northern Ireland also features in the top ten, with Belfast’s City Hall ranking in seventh place overall. The Grade A listed building is steeped in history and is a captivating sight, with the green copper dome in the centre drawing visitors’ attention.

The most beautiful sights in the USA

The East coast topped the list of must-see sights in the US, with Central Park in New York City receiving 22,880 reviews citing it as a stunning sight. Other US sights making the top five include the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, one of the most iconic suspension bridges in the world, spanning over one mile. Not only does the bold colour help the structure stand out, but the sheer size of the bridge also makes it a dominant landmark in the city, rendering the bridge as a tourist attraction on most travellers’ bucket lists. The San Antonio Riverwalk is the fifth most stunning sight in the States, with over 6,000 reviews hailing it as a beauty. The River Walk is home to shops, cafes and restaurants and often host exhibitions, so has plenty to offer visitors.
