Dear Editor,
Following the news that there are 21 wind turbines a gigantic 820 feet high planned for the village of Bryn above Maesteg and Port Talbot and 20 of the same gargantuan height proposed for Moelfre , near Betws-yn-Rhos near Colwyn Bay, I now hear there are 36 monster machines ,722 feet in height, planned at Nant Mithil, near New Radnor , Powys.
I wonder how many Welsh people are aware of this new “monster breed” of wind turbine headed for Wales? Too many Welsh people are ignorant because they do not buy Welsh newspapers. Far too many in Wales are reliant on London journals for their news. If these gargantuan wind turbines were headed for England, there would be a furore in the Daily Mail and massive headlines in The Sun.
I will remind everyone that the huge , iconic Eiffel Tower is 1050 feet high and the famous Blackpool Tower is 520 feet high. These new monster machines that will completely destroy the landscapes of Wales and be visible for up to 25 miles radius [I’m not exaggerating!!] are far bigger than the latter and approaching the height of the Eiffel Tower. However that icon is not on top of a high hill and is not revolving !! It is also ONLY ONE static structure ! Meanwhile, there are at least 77 of these spinning super-turbines proposed for this little beautiful country of ours.
Wales is only 8015 square miles. The USA is a gargantuan 3,614,170 square miles ………but I cannot find monster wind turbines of this size in that vast land. The Yanks are not that stupid ! You won’t find them in England or Ireland either ! The Welsh Government has really MADE WALES A SOFT TOUCH with its ill-thought out policies !! A great many Welsh homes will soon be unsaleable .The noise from monster machines will be unbearable, especially the constant “thump! thump, thump” throughout the night, making people really ill.
I urge all the good people of Wales to write to their councillors, politicians and INVALUABLE WELSH NEWSPAPERS to protest like mad and put a stop to this latter-day “Rape of our fair country” !!
Otherwise, YOU could be next !!!
Yours faithfully,
