They say art imitates life, and indeed it does in Roger Weis’ revised, thought-provoking novel. In the 60s, Weis was drafted from Marshall University to serve as a reporter for the U.S. Army in Vietnam. The war had a profound effect on him and ignited a passion for nonprofit work, a passion that would evolve into a career as a professor of nonprofit leadership studies. In “Marissa’s Secret -Revised Edition” protagonist Christopher Matthews follows in Weis’ footsteps.
Christopher is a typical young college student with few worries or insight into where his life was headed but comes to understand the gravity of war. Irreparably changed by what he has witnessed, Christopher embarks on a search for purpose and truth. “The story transports readers from biblical times to the 1960s and concludes in more recent times on the campus of Princeton’s Theological Seminary,” Weis said. “Christopher’s quest for purpose will lead him on a journey of mystery, religious curiosity, and love all wrapped in one explosive work of fiction.”
