TVs are getting bigger, thinner, and brighter by the day â with immersion being an absolutely crucial part of the modern TV viewing experience, weâre seeing a TV revolution of colour and contrast, with tonnes of even basic 4K TVs having HDR support, weâre seeing cheaper models with technology that even a few years ago wouldâve come with a hefty price tag. So what are the latest TV designs to look out for? And where can I find the latest and best 43-inch TV? All will be answered soon.
From QLED to 8K, weâre going to take a look at some of the most popular and trending TV designs available this year, looking at the direction of TV designs, and how the leading brands are battling their way to the top with their own innovative spins on immersion.
The thinner the better
Itâs no surprise that screens are getting thinner, weâre always striving to make tech lighter, and thatâs just the way TVs are headed. Weâve seen a dramatic shift in TV thickness in the past couple of years with the popularity of OLED, which doesnât require a backlight like other TVs.
But this shift to ultra-thin screens isnât just exclusive to OLED, in fact this year weâve seen some new hybrid screens coming to the marketplace. Our favourite example of this is Samsungâs S95B, which is a QD OLED screen, yes you did read that correctly. Combining Quantum Dot technology (from QLED panelling) and OLED, Samsung has made a screen possessing the absolute best of both worlds: the speed of OLED and the vibrancy of QLED.
The best and brightest
Weâve seen a good amount of TV manufacturers bringing their own spin on the classic TV, trying to add some immersion one way or another, and Philips has managed to do something quite special. Philips 43â Ambilight 4K TV uses rear LED lights to mimic the colours on the screen, casting them onto your surrounding walls, giving the screen a bizarre, yet grabbing depth that needs to be experienced.
8K: the future of TV?
We all knew itâd come eventually, ever since 4K hit the scene weâve heard whispers of 8K â double the resolution, double the fun, but it seemed almost like science-fiction, years off in all likelihood, and yet here we are. 8K TVs are finding their way, slowly but surely, into our
homes this year, with double the resolution of 4K (if you can even comprehend such a thing) 4K is destined to go the way of the Full HD TV, despite still being brilliant for now.
Samsung of course has some skin in the game already with their QN800A; a Neo QLED 8K smart TV that is chillingly good. Incorporating Samsungâs Infinity One design ethos, the QN800A is ultra-thin and minimalistic, with little to no tangled cabling that only becomes an eye sore. Its bezels are sharp and barely noticeable when itâs in full swing, creating a wonderful gripping sense of immersion, unlike any cinematic experience youâve had before.
