The Royal Welch Fusiliers Veterans’ charity football match against the Aberystwyth Town Legends raised over £1,000 for Angharad Ward in Bronglais Hospital.
The match, which took place on 4th June 2022 to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, raised a total of £1,150 for Angharad Ward and £850 in support of Ken Williams.
Ken was a first-team regular since the 1974/1975 season but sadly suffered a stroke just before his 60th birthday.
This is the second year the event has supported the children’s ward, last year the match raised £827.
“Without the special bond that unites us band of brothers from “The Regiment”, the 23rd foot, The Royal Welch Fusiliers/Royal Welsh this event would never have taken place.”
Bridget Harpwood, fundraising officer, said: “We are really grateful to Colin and the veterans’ footballers for raising such a fantastic amount of money for Angharad Ward.
“The Children’s Ward at Bronglais is greatly valued by families across mid-Wales. The money raised will help provide those extras that make visits just that little bit more comfortable for both the children and their parents and carers.”
