To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of The Friends of St Davids Cathedral and to continue to mark HM The Queens Platinum Jubilee as the only reigning Monarch uniquely among British Cathedrals to sit and hold a Sovereign’s Stall in St Davids, The Cathedral is hosting this
Royal Prom on Friday September 9th as part of the Annual Friends weekend.

The Friends of St Davids Cathedral assist the Dean and Chapter in maintaining the Cathedral by raising necessary funds for the maintenance of the building and worship and this Royal Prom is this year’s major vital Fundraising Event.

An exciting programme of light orchestral favourites known to be enjoyed by Her Majesty and The Royal Family has been created by local Conductor Ian McMillan-Davidson, who has personal insight and experience into the Royals Musical tastes, having conducted several performances in the presence of The Queen and Royal Family throughout his career including at The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Variety Show on BBC 1, Windsor Castle, and Royal Investitures at Buckingham Palace.

Local resident, McMillan-Davidson will introduce and conduct The Cardiff based
British Sinfonietta and special Guest,Welsh National Opera Soprano, Samantha Hay, in
Royal Family favourite Film, TV, Radio themes and show selections, including a couple of singalongs for the audience to join in the fun from The Queen’s favourite shows, My Fair Lady, and Me and My Girl, ending with the traditional annual Last Night of The Proms Finale on the eve of the BBC and Nationwide live performance from London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Light Orchestral gems are also represented in this unique and entertaining show with popular music from The Dambusters, In Town Tonight, The Archers, Desert Island Discs,
Down Your Way, Bond, Paddington 2 and HM’s Coronation.
