Lovell are working with Pobl and Caerphilly County Borough Council to revamp the community house near their Chartist Garden Village development.

Leading partnerships developer Lovell has teamed up with its partners Pobl and Caerphilly County Borough Council to revamp the community house in Fair View, Blackwood, near to the Chartist Garden Village development in Pontllanfraith.

Lovell lent a hand with the renovation efforts of Fair View’s local community house, where people and groups from across the community come to make use of the space.

Lovell and local contractors, who are building homes just over one mile away at Chartist Garden Village, helped to fully redecorate the house, put in new flooring throughout, install new PVC French doors that open onto the rear garden, and tidy up the garden area, making it ready to use throughout the summer.

With the renovations completed by Cynon Contractors, Craftsmen Flooring and GC Windows, the community was welcomed back to the revitalised space.

Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “We were very excited to get involved in renovating the local community house in Blackwood, and are very proud of the work that’s been done.

“It’s important to us at Lovell that we give back to the communities which we build in, and the people that have accepted and welcomed us with open arms.

“Now that the revamp is complete and the community is happy with the results of our efforts, we hope that the community house sees lots of use from a wide variety of people in Blackwood. It’s such a fantastic resource, and we feel privileged to have been able to contribute to its transformation.”

Ellis Cunliffe, Project Manager at Pobl Group, said: “Placemaking is at the heart of our new developments at Pobl, so it’s wonderful that we’ve been able to help out with the renovation of this important local facility as part of our Chartist Garden Village development.

“The work that the contractors have carried out has made a real difference to the building, and I hope that the local community enjoy making use of their revamped space.”

Councillor Shayne Cook, Cabinet Member for Housing at Caerphilly County Borough Council, added: “Chartist Garden Village is a flagship development delivering a mix of tenures to help meet local demand for social housing, whilst also offering opportunities for low cost home ownership; enabling first time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder.

“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Pobl and Lovell on this exciting project, and to see the additional benefits already being delivered in local communities as a result of this investment, such as the improvements at the community house.”

Adjacent to the Sir Harold Finch Memorial Park, Chartist Garden Village is a design and build scheme being delivered by Lovell for Pobl and Caerphilly County Borough Council, on the former council office site. The development will consist of 123 open market homes and affordable homes for rent and shared ownership.
