Journalist Jason Kerr said the estimated death toll so far is ten dead and 15 injured

THE exact death toll in the mass stabbing attacks in Canada is currently unknown, a journalist on the scene has told GB News.

Jason Kerr, editor of the Prince Albert Herald, commented: “The crazy thing is they don’t actually know exactly how many victims there are.

“Police believe that there are a large number of people, or at least a number of people who may have transported themselves or been transported to hospital by friends and family members, so they’re still waiting – they’re still encouraging people to contact them if they have been a victim of this.

“But this has been very surprising for people in Saskatchewan. This is the type of thing we’re used to reading about in larger newspapers from larger cities like New York and Los Angeles.

“To see this happen in the small, rural areas of our provinces is very shocking.”

Asked about the suspects in the case, in an interview during Breakfast with Stephen Dixon and Isabel Webster on GB News, he said: “The two men are in their early 30s and they haven’t been seen since about 11:45am Saskatchewan time on Sunday.

“The Royal Canadian Mounted Police held a press conference on Sunday afternoon and they were asked if these gentlemen have prior criminal histories, if they were known to police. The RCMP aren’t saying a whole lot about their background.

“They’re currently working on 13 different crime scenes…so they’ve got their hands full just getting all this evidence ready to go.

“The police chief in Regina says they do believe both men are still in the city.

“They have notified RCMP and other provinces to be on the lookout, but for now they’re still concentrating their efforts on Regina.”

Asked if the victims had been targeted, Mr Kerr said: “It’s a mixture of both. Police say that some victims they believe were targeted, others they believe that it’s random.

“This is another one of those things – they’re processing so many crime scenes at the moment.

“It’s not that we probably won’t find out until tomorrow or maybe in the next couple of days. The RCMP have said they’re going to release a written statement about the investigation at 10:30am Monday morning Saskatchewan time.

“That’s a few hours away for everyone in the UK and we expect to see or hear more about that then, but for now, we’re still waiting for that information.”
