When was the last time you spoke with your insurance agent? Did you know that your risk assessment could’ve changed since you last spoke with them, leaving you open to not being covered in an emergency? Speaking with your insurance company needs to be an ongoing conversation to avoid potential surprises in lack of coverage.
Zelros recently surveyed over 1000 people in the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany and found that 78% of people have spoken with their insurance agent within the past 6 months, this number should be 100% of people.
“Insurance companies determine risk using an assessment that includes various methods and formulas to determine what types of coverage to offer you and how much to charge.” explains Linh C. Ho, Chief Growth Officer at Zelros. “What many people don’t realize is that these assessments are constantly occurring whether you check in with your insurance provider or not. Changes in weather patterns might mean that this year your house is now located in an area prime for flooding or wildfires. Adding a reminder in your phone to routinely check in on your policy to make sure that you’re adequately covered might just save you from a financial nightmare if an incident were to occur.”
Looking at the data closer shows, 45.3% of people have spoken with their insurance agent within the last six months. 32.7% of people have spoken with their agent within the last month. 12.2% of people have spoken with their agent within the past year and 9.8% of people spoke with their agent over a year ago.
Of those with an insurance agent, 32.9% of women say they communicated with their agent in the last month, 42.7% within the last six months, 12.4% within the past year and 12% say it has been more than a year since their last communication with their agent. 32.4% of men with an insurance agent have spoken with them in the last month, 47.9% within the last six months, 11.9% within the last year and 7.8% say it has been more than a year since their last communication with their agent.
Founded in 2016 by Christophe Bourguignat and Damien Philippon, Zelros is using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology to help insurers provide policyholders with the right coverage for their needs as they occur in real-time.
