Our Keynote Speaker CONFIRMED
– Nigel Owens at MHW Show 2023!

Nigel Owens MBE is recognised as one of the world’s best ever rugby referees and is the first openly gay man to come out in professional rugby.

However, despite the adulation and plaudits, Nigel’s mental health was not in a good place and at the age of 26 he attempted to take his own life. “I left a note for my Mum and Dad and
said I couldn’t carry on with my life anymore,” admitted Nigel.
The subsequent support from his family was a of great help
and comfort, and his TikTok video of his attempted suicide story touched the hearts of rugby fans around the world.

Nigel came through this dark time to become one of the most successful sporting officials in history. The Welshman went on to referee 100 test rugby matches, and won 2015 World Rugby Referee of the Year.

Both on and off the pitch, he does much equality, inclusiveness and mental health work and in 2017 he presented the Panorama programme on Eating Disorders in Men and Boys.

Owens will be sharing his inspirational story on the day and
it is not-to-be-missed, with opportunities to upgrade your ticket for photo and meet-and-greet opportunities with the great sporting legend.
