Keelin Hawker of #Borth raised £1,300 for the Bronglais Chemo Appeal by taking part in the Aber Cycle Fest.
Woodworker Keelin, 49, completed a 45-mile ride in her own time, as a thank you for care she received in the chemotherapy day unit 12 years ago.
She said: “When I saw that there was an Appeal for the chemotherapy unit, I knew I wanted
to help out as a way of showing my gratitude to all the amazing staff who helped me through treatments for Hodgkin’s lymphoma 12 years ago.
“After a winter of hibernation, I was still only half-fit by the week of the ride, but I ended up doing the 45-mile course and it took me six hours. A massive and heartfelt thank you to everyone who sponsored and encouraged me.
“I want to express enormous gratitude and appreciation for the haemotology and chemotherapy departments who continuously help people through the craziest of times with friendly, professional dedication (and memorable belly laughs).”
The Bronglais Chemo Appeal aims to raise the final £500,000 needed for construction to start on a new, purpose-built chemotherapy day unit for Bronglais Hospital, to greatly improve the patient experience.
