A CLASSICAL concert series featuring world-renowned musicians launches at a historic stately home this month.
Netherby Hall at Longtown, near Carlisle, Cumbria, will welcome leading musicians as part of the series, which features monthly concerts at the Hall from September until March.
Performers will take the stage at Netherby’s Oak Hall, with the audience having the option to enjoy a post-concert dinner in the atmospheric Orangery.
Abbie Deeb, Events Manager at Netherby Hall, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming these fantastically talented musicians to Netherby Hall and to offer the audience the opportunity to see them perform in the Oak Hall.
“Our classical music series goes from strength to strength every year, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to see the performances.”
The series begins with cellist Max Beitan and pianist John Thwaites on Friday, September 23 followed by Oxana Shevchenko, piano (October 21); Filip Pogády, violin and John Lenehan, piano (November 18); Adam Laloum, piano, Clémence de Forceville, violin, and Benedict Kloeckner, cello (December 9); Anna Fedorova, piano (January 20); Solem Quartet (February 10); and Tabea Debus, recorder and Jonathan Rees, gamba (March 17).
The performances at Netherby Hall are part of the Absolute Classics concert series, where visiting musicians tour the region performing at different venues as well as inspiring the next generation through their work with schools and young people.
During the concert season, the visiting musicians perform at Netherby Hall; Cochran Hall, Kirkcudbright; and Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries.
Netherby Hall is a Grade II* listed mansion on a private estate set in 36 acres of parkland and gardens. It is owned and operated by Gerald and Margo Smith, who have completed a multi-million pound transformation at the property, creating nine luxury self-catering holiday cottages and apartments, as well as conference facilities.
The restoration of the stable courtyard, which included reinstating it a working stable complex, received a commendation in the Historic House Restoration Award 2021.
The classical music series is one of several events held at Netherby Hall throughout the year including a Christmas Fair (November 12 and 13), a Spring Fair and an annual car show in August.
