Aberystwyth Town Women have been honoured by the FAW for their work in the area – and now hope to go even further in the national awards.

In Wednesday evening’s event, Aber picked up the Central Wales Equality, Diversity and Inclusion prize for their grassroots girls’ camps and addition of a girls’ development centre – with many of their first-team players coaching and giving the girls role models to look up to.

They will now move forward to the nationwide final.

“We’re really happy to get this award,” said camp coach and first-team player Lucie Gwilt. “The camps have been a massive success this year. We had 100 at our last camp, and we’ve been applying for grants so we can make as many of them as possible free.

“It’s giving so much to girls in the area. We’ve had so many beginners and we hope some of them will be rising stars at Aberystwyth Town in the years to come.”
