With the current economic climate and housing market, Tile Warehouse has conducted a survey to assess the attitude of potential buyers toward the connection between aesthetics and value, and whether Welsh residents would offer more than the asking price for certain visual features that suit their tastes.
Here’s what the data reveals:
- 45.36% of respondents agreed that the aesthetic of a home is one of the most important factors when purchasing
- 43.30% of Wales would offer under asking price if a property included aesthetic features that weren’t to their taste
- 21.65% of people believe tiling would add value to their property, with 51.55% agreeing that certain tile patterns or styles would increase the likelihood of them purchasing a property
- 24.74% of Welsh residents feel that the style of tiling used matters when searching for a home

The study revealed that 24.74% of Welsh residents feel that when searching for a home, the style of tiling used matters to them, with 45.36% agreeing that the aesthetic of a home is one of the most important factors to them when purchasing.
35.05% of Welsh residents keep home value in mind when decorating their house, whilst 21.65% believe that tiling would increase the value of their property.
The survey also found that 43.30% of people would buy a house if the features weren’t to their taste, however, they would offer less than the asking price. When it came to the colours used throughout a property, 21.65% claimed that the colour of the walls in a home affects their decision to purchase.
When it came to the home features that would affect the offer price on a property the most, it seems that Wales would pay more for herringbone tiles (Ā£7940.65) than a fully-integrated kitchen (Ā£7129.35).
