Saudi surgeons save mother’s arm after total amputation

A surgical team at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah (western Saudi Arabia) was able to save a pregnant woman and her fetus after enduring a serious run-over accident while crossing a busy street on Tuesday 27th Sep, which led to the amputation of her entire arm.

Saudi Health indicated that the patient came to the hospital’s emergency as a critical case that requires saving the mother and the fetus. A rapid response medical team was set, and surgery was performed to restore the amputated limb in a procedure that lasted for 6 hours, which ended with returning the arm to full functionality.

Necessary medical examinations were also conducted to monitor the health of the fetus by gynecologists, who confirmed its safe status, despite the severe trauma it was exposed to. The mother was allowed to leave the hospital and her health condition is stable.
