Carmarthenshire County Council’s Social Care and Health Protection Team will be out and about in the county next week to promote ways the community can stay protected as we head into the winter months.

As part of International Infection Prevention Week 2022 (October 16-22) the team will be holding sessions at the HWBs in Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli from 10am-2pm on the following dates:

·    Llanelli – Monday, October 17 and Thursday, October 20

·    Carmarthen – Monday, October 17 and Wednesday, October 19

·    Ammanford – Friday, October 21.

Residents can find out more about the key steps in effective infection prevention and control which will help in staying safe and protect vulnerable people as we head into the winter months.

This includes good hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene and the importance of flu and covid vaccinations in preventing the spread of illnesses such as respiratory viruses and gastrointestinal infections.

The council will also be promoting key messages to schools, care homes and businesses to highlight the importance of infection control as we head into winter.
