Mumbles Rangers 1 – Seven Sisters Onllwyn 4
A rain swept evening at Sketty Swansea University stadium didn’t help the flow of this Ardal Southern SW league game.
Seven Sisters Onllwyn got off to the perfect start when forward Ross Newell slotted the ball into the Rangers net to give the away side an early advantage 0-1
Rangers tried to respond immediately with flyer Taylor Smith causing concerns on the left side of the visitors defence.
Seven Sisters Onllwyn goalkeeper James Harris was having a fine game in goal and frustrating the home attacks especially from striker James Loveridge.
However a Rangers lapse in defence allowed Seven Sisters Onllwyn attacker Adam Campbell to score the visitors second goal of the game 0-2
There then followed a frantic fifteen minutes of play when the referee brandished two straight red cards to Rangers Ricky Kerr and Seven Sisters Onllwyn goal scorer Adam Campbell, both players looked on in disbelief as they both trudged back to their respective dressing rooms.
Rangers continued to pass and move their way forward to try and get a foothold in the game.
Rangers Elliot Smith was battling away and the referee awarded a free kick against him and showed a yellow card , within seconds a second yellow and red was shown to Elliot Smith and Rangers found themselves down to nine men against ten.
With minutes to half time Seven Sisters Onllwyn struck again when Ross Newell scored his second goal of the game by sliding his shot on goal passed Rangers goalkeeper Sam Goodwin.
Rangers were 0-3 down as the half time whistle blew.
The second half saw Rangers out early and eager to get themselves back in the game.
Rangers passed their way forward and were having the major share of possession but Seven Sisters Onllwyn James Harris was in command and he looked unbeatable.
The inevitable happened as Rangers took chances and pushed forward were caught out when Shay Isaac slotted the visitors fourth goal of the game and sealed his team’s away win.
Rangers heads didn’t drop and Loveridge embraced the spirit of his team when he rifled a shot which thundered against the visitors crossbar.
Loveridge did get a consolation goal back by converting a penalty kick 1-4
Seven Sisters Onllwyn celebrated their victory at the final whistle whilst Rangers must feel the score line was a little flattering to the visitors.
