There is nothing better than touring a city we visit for the first time on foot. Strolling through Paris seems to have been perfectly designed to be enjoyed step by step.

The squares, museums, cathedrals, monuments, and neighborhoods have a perfect layout. So put on good shoes as we start our walking tour of Paris. If you want, you can pick a Paris free walking tour guide on Free Tour. Let’s tour Paris in three steps.

From the Eiffel Tower with love

The best starting point to get to know this great city is undoubtedly the Arc de Triomphe, located on Place Charles de Gaulle. This monument offers the most beautiful postcards of the city, so, if possible, it would not hurt to make the first stop along the way.

From this spot, without losing sight of our goal, walking down the Avenue des Champs-Élysées will be a privilege. With this you get to see the following:

  • squares;
  • cathedrals;
  • monuments;
  • museums.

This great avenue is framed on both sides by many cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. And if you don’t get lost in a shop or an exquisite café, you will arrive at Place de la Concorde, where the Obelisque rises majestically.

From Place de la Concorde to Place de la Vendôme

Returning to Place Concorde, another interesting route awaits you; Turning left, continuing down Rue Royal, you will come across the Église de la Madeleine.

This beautiful neoclassical Catholic temple is also located next to Rue Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, well known for the luxury shops that reside there.

Along the Boulevard des Capucines, you’ll reach the Opéra de Paris. And from there, taking the Rue de la Paix, you can conclude this long section.

Les Invalides to Champs de Mars

As if this were not enough, more surprises await the traveler. And by taking the metro to the Les Invalides stop, we will be -finally- very close to our goal, but not before seeing the tomb of Napoleon.

Next to this landmark is the Musée Rodin, and following the Avenue de Tourville to the Place de l’Ecole Militaire, the Champs de Mars takes us without hesitation. It’s only accompanied by the wind to the great Eiffel Tower.

To view the tower from the inside, you have to buy access tickets, the price of which will depend on the height you want to reach. The views from the third floor will give you beautiful panoramic views and an overwhelming feeling.

Conclusion

The first thing the visitor feels about Paris is its breadth and grandeur. Behind each famous landmark, and in most cases not many meters away, is another great emblem of the city.

It is not necessary to have a lot of time to get to know the most famous places, although it is true that just to visit the Louvre completely, we would need a full week. Whatever you decide, this short guide should help you plan a route through Paris.
