While Black Friday can be hectic, you can’t argue that it’s possibly the best time to do some much-needed shopping, especially for your home. You can grab trendy furniture, decorations and other much-needed household items for a lot cheaper, especially if you know what to look for and where to buy it from! Here we will discuss what the upcoming interior design trends are for next year with Fantastic Services interior designer Issabel Williams. Afterwards, she will list some of the best places to check for bargains on and around Black Friday.

Ways designers get inspired

Even professional designers can experience a creative block and a general lack of inspiration at times. However, there’s a diverse set of medicines for this particular ailment and each designer has their own personal favourites to help get that much needed burst of inspiration and allow them to keep practising their art. So if you want to freshen up your home but don’t have any ideas in mind, here are the most common ways top designers stimulate their creativity:

Browse websites and read magazines

There are thousands of websites to draw inspiration from, the most popular ones undoubtedly being Pinterest and Instagram. There are thousands of others to choose from, so pick what works best for you! The world of magazines may be much smaller, but well-curated and arranged content may be just the thing you need to get creative!

Travel

Going on a trip, be it in your own country or somewhere thousands of miles away, is a great way to see new styles, colours, materials, designs and ideas. Immerse yourself in the local culture and you might get an idea how to bring part of it into your own home.

Use photos

Taking new photos or looking at past ones you’ve taken can help bring things into perspective. Notice how a certain object fits into its surroundings and capture the moment to use for future reference and inspiration!

Watch movies and read books

Watch a movie and notice how the sets are designed, what materials are used, how the colours interact and everything comes together to give off a distinct feeling. Imagine how everything looks and fits together in the world of the book you’re reading. All this can give you ideas for your own home!

Visit furniture shops

The items exhibited in shops have been set up like that for a reason – to look the best way possible and entice you to buy them. Notice what colours the designers have used, what types of furniture they’ve mixed together and what the whole style makes you feel.

Go out in nature

Artists, poets and musicians have been drawing inspiration from Mother Nature for thousands of years, there’s just nothing else like it. Bask in the serenity of the natural world and let the colours and shapes boost your inspiration and fill you with ideas.

Look at art

Enjoy looking at some art – go to a gallery, watch a street painter at work or even just browse digital art from the comfort of your home! Art provokes our mind and emotions with the shapes, colours and motives it uses, which can translate into ideas for how you want your home to feel.

7 trends interior designers expect in 2023

Trends are changing each and every year, it’s only natural. Current trends have been deeply influenced by the pandemic we went through, which forced us to spend most of our time at home. People are looking to bring nature inside their homes as much as possible, to mix modern and traditional styles and to be more sustainable as a whole.

Deep colours

The general trend is moving away from neutral colours (like black, white and grey) and more towards deep colours like blue, green and even pink! Using different shades of these colours to fit your own tastes allows you to add a splash of colour in your home, be it through repainting a wall, changing furniture or even just adding colourful decorations. The most popular colour is set to be green with all its different shades, which is to be expected as it is the main colour of nature!

Art

Using art to spruce up your living space is also set to be extremely trendy! Add art in to complement the general style of your room or pick out something you like, no matter how it fits in with the room and it can still work. Art can be the focal point of a room or just another part of the decor, it’s your choice!

Mixing modern and traditional

A new style intuitively dubbed “Modern Traditional” makes use of the best parts of both the modern and traditional styles. It mixes the streamlined and simple aesthetic of modern design with the comfort and some of the complexity of the traditional look and feel. Modern traditional can be a modern design with a touch of traditional, or it can be the exact opposite! It promotes eclecticism – mix and match to your own tastes.

Rugs

The simple rug is an often overlooked part of home design. Besides keeping your feet warm and giving the room a more cosy feeling, a properly chosen rug can bring the whole style together. Depending on your needs, you could add a small rug as a detail or a whole area rug to alter the colour scheme and set a different vibe to the room.

Inviting more nature in

“Biophilic Design”, as it has been named, is all about the natural world. Use natural materials like wood and stone; use more rounded, natural shapes; use the colours of nature to promote a serene environment; place any and all plants you like to add colour and to provide cleaner, fresher air in your home. If you can’t go out in nature, then bring nature inside with you!

Sustainability

Climate change is very real and we must all do our part to help combat it. Procure local materials and furniture to stimulate local businesses and lessen pollution from transport. Go thrifting and you might find a hidden gem. Reuse and upcycle old items in new and creative ways. Being sustainable helps the planet and stimulates you to think outside the box!

Curved furniture

Curves have an unique way of making a room feel soft and welcoming. Even though curved furniture is nothing new (you could even say it’s more on the traditional side), it is becoming more and more popular due to how it gives the eye a natural place to rest. Furniture needs to feel good and curved interiors have been proven to provide a relaxing, calming and welcoming vibe due to their softness and rounded organic form.

Best places for bargains

So now you have an idea of what the trends are set to be for next year, you might even already be formulating an image of how you want your home to look like, but where can you find what you’re looking for? What places should you look for to get a great deal on all the cool things you have in mind? And when is Black Friday this year, anyway? A lot of sensible questions, all of which we will answer!

It won’t hurt to check all of your favourite stores, be they physical or online, when Black Friday rolls around.

Black Friday is always on the last Friday of November, which means that it will be on the 25th of November this year. Some retailers begin having sales even from the beginning of the week, which means that you should start keeping an eye on all those stores you have in mind from as early as the 21st! Most Black Friday discounts go on through the weekend and transform into Cyber Monday (online store) deals, starting from the 28th.

So now you’re up to date on all the upcoming interior design trends and you know how to score the best deals on everything you need to transform your own home! Happy shopping!
