Plaid Cymru Must Call in the South Wales Police

Propel Leader Neil McEvoy is calling upon Plaid Cymru to “clean house” and call in the South Wales Police to investigate allegations of multiple sexual assaults.

Propel Leader Neil McEvoy said,

“I am well qualified to comment on the cess pit called Plaid Cymru.

“I was made very much aware of Plaid Cymru’s culture when I reached the top of the Party. I and others witnessed multiple low level sexual assaults ignored by Plaid.

“I also supported a young woman being harassed by a senior male during Leanne Wood’s leadership. Little was done and the male was supported by senior figures, at the expense of the young girl.

“After disciplinary action was taken against me for saying that paedophile Plaid politician Simon Thomas should have gone to jail, I decided to withdraw my application for re-joining Plaid back in 2019. It was a repugnant situation where I was alleged to have brought the party into disrepute for telling the truth. Plaid Cymru preferred to let that pervert resign quietly and took no action. After that, I reflected and wanted no further part of that disorganised hypocrisy.

“In addition, an allegation of a very serious sexual assault, alleged to have been perpetrated by a senior party member was brought to my attention. The victim said they were offered “an apology over a misunderstanding,” which devastated them. The police were not called in and I did my best to support the victim, who ultimately did not feel able to report matters to the police. I will always respect that person’s confidence and will support them in future if need be.

“It is time for Plaid Cymru to hold a mirror up to its own behaviours and take action. Now, another allegation of sexual assault was made in public and seen on social media. Those who know about this and have not taken action must be suspended. Plaid Cymru should call in the South Wales Police to investigate the allegations. I suspect the current allegation may not be an isolated incident. Those who have suffered in the past should consider coming forward. There may well be safety in numbers.

“On a political level, the Welsh sovereignty movement has come too far to be damaged by Plaid Cymru’s sleaze. Action is needed.”
