Events and Open Days at Cynheidre in 2023 on the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway

The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr railway are pleased to announce an enhanced program of events and open days for 2023 at its Cynheidre base near Llanelli.  This includes a Gala weekend on 18th and 19th March to kick the season off in style, the return of popular family events at Easter, Halloween and Christmas, plus a number of opportunities to drive one of our Pacer Railcars.  Cynheidre is just five miles from Llanelli on the B4309 road.

The full list of events are as follows: 

March to October – Pacer Driver Experience, various dates each month

Your opportunity to drive a class 142 or class 143 Pacer train under expert tuition from one of our driver instructors.  Full details available on the following link: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/llanellirailway

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th March – Gala Weekend

Kicking the season off in style with a launch into service of our class 73 diesel locomotive and ex. MOD Railcar.  A first chance to travel on ex. GWR Pacer railcar 143 612 plus an intensive service of trains throughout the weekend.

Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th April – Easter Weekend

Fun for all the family as the Easter Bunny returns to Cynheidre.

Saturday 10th June – Running Day*

Saturday 15th July – Running Day*

Saturday 12th August – Running Day*

Saturday 26th August – Running Day* – Summer Bank Holiday Weekend

Saturday 23rd September – Running Day*

Saturday 28th October – Halloween Evening

Spooky fun for all the family and a rare opportunity to enjoy a train ride after dark at Cynheidre

December – Santa Specials, dates to be announced later in the year

* on ordinary running days train rides operate using either our Sentinel Shunter and Brake Van, class 142 or class 143 Pacer trains or class 73 diesel electric locomotive.  Details of which will operate on a specific day will be announced nearer the date.

The railway is a charity run totally by volunteers.  It is hoping to grow into a major tourist attraction for the Llanelli district and in order to reach our goals we need more volunteer help in all departments including operational, maintenance and restoration, and administration.
