What a speck-tacle! World’s most expensive dust RANKED

Dust, anybody? No? It’s everywhere, all around us. You’re probably looking at some right now, but given its abundance, how much is it actually worth?

Leading ductwork specialists, Airmatic, were curious to find out the most expensive types of dust available around the world – because aren’t we all? Working with dust daily, they’ve ranked their dusty findings to decipher exactly the types you wouldn’t want going into one of their extraction systems, they range from a vacuumable inconvenience to a more out-of-this-world particle. 

The full list: 

House dust – This is your everyday cleaning enemy around the house, made from dirt, skin cells, pet hair and fabric fibers. You can get this for free which is why it takes the bottom spot as the cheapest type of dust on our list. It’s not even worth our time to put a price on it.

Sawdust – Next up is a type of wood dust that comes from cutting timber, unless you’re a carpenter you may not see too much of this stuff. However it is used a lot for various animals and their beds such as horses. Not quite free unless you cut a lot of wood, but fairly cheap, unlike the horse. A 1kg bag will set you back just £1.10, bargain. 

Brick dust – The second construction by-product on the list, usually reserved for bricklayers and people spiritually cleansing their home (if you believe the old magic trick). However, to buy a bag of it will set you back about £8 + VAT. We’re not sure why you’d want to though. 

Gold dust – No expensive dust list would be complete without gold dust, it speaks for itself. The price depends on the current price of gold which is currently £1,525.70 per oz at the time of writing. 

Moon dust – Very few people have ever had access to this one, however a pinch of this dust once sold for over $500,000 (£409,237.50) at Bonhams in New York. This is definitely not dust you’d want to be vacuuming up. 

Fairy dust – Our final and the most expensive dust on the list (if you believe it exists) is the out-of-this-world and magical, fairy dust. As for cost, well, you can’t put a price on magic.
