Oscar Odds Revealed: Brendan Fraser is the MOST likely to take home an Oscar in 2023

Brendan Frasers performance in The Whale has the highest probability of winning him Oscar! 🎬🏆

The Oscar nominations have been officially announced and with all the buzz around the Academy Awards odds experts, AceOdds, wanted to reveal which movies, actors/actresses and directors are the favourites to win an Oscar and who has the best odds. 

Everything Everywhere All at Once dominated the odds for Best Picture

Despite much of the speculation around sequel surge, the only one to have made it to the short list was Top Gun – Maverick, beating it feel sequels Avatar Ways of Water and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The movie also has the lowest probability of gaining the Oscar with a 7.70% chance. The favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture is Everything All at Once with a 52% chance, followed by The Banshees of Inisherin at 31% and The Fabelmans at 13%.

Out of the four biggest sectors, Best Actress, Actor, Director and Picture, Brendan Fraser has the best odds of taking home an Oscar for his performance in The Whale – with a probability of 61.50%! With a much smaller probability follows Colin Farrell with 23.30%, Austin Butler with 18.90% and Ralph Fiennes for his performance in The Menu with a mere 2.40%. 

Cate Blanchett is a favourite to win Best Actress – with a 60% chance of her taking home an Oscar

Similarly to Brendan Fraser, Cate Blanchett is a clear favourite to win the award for Best Actress – with one of the highest probabilities to win the Oscar for her portrayal in TAR. Following Blanchett is Michelle Yeoh’s performance in Everything All At Once which has gained her her first Oscar nomination with a high 42% chance of winning. The other two nominees are Danielle Deadwyler and Viola Davis with below a 4% chance of winning. 

No female directors nominated for 2023, as Daniels leads the way to winning with 52% chance

This year, the Oscar nominees for Best Director is dominated by men. Both Daniels, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, are in top running to win the Oscar with Everywhere Everything All at Once with a 52% chance of winning, followed by Steven Spielberg for The Fablemans at 46% as well as Martin McDonagh and Todd Field with a 4% chance.
