The EGBA Contribution Towards Safer Internet Day

The EGBA has joined hands with Safer Internet 2022. This initiative has been facilitated by the European Commission and Better Internet for Kids and was celebrated on the 8th of February, 2022. The actions took place globally under the theme of “Together for a better Internet”. The EGBA has shown participation in this event for the 4th consecutive year. From social networking, and cyberbullying to digital identity, every Safer Internet Day focuses on raising awareness about multiple concerns and online issues. Most of the activity took place on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tiktok. Most of the content can be viewed under hashtags #SID2022 #SaferInternetDay. Platforms such as betting.co.uk, have been listing and reviewing the best casinos that offer a safe and responsible gambling option across the fraternity. This is the list of casinos that we applaud for their contribution towards initiatives such as Safer Internet 2022.

The European Gambling and Betting Association

The EGBA is based in Brussels and is a trade association that represents multiple leading online betting and gambling operators established, licensed as well as regulated within the UK which includes Entain, Betsson Group, Kindred Group, William Hill, etc. Founded in 2007, this organization works hand in hand with the regulatory authorities for a well-balanced gambling ecosystem inclusive of customer protection and takes into consideration the popularity of gambling, demand among punters, and the massive revenue generation from gambling. In 2020, the EGBA provided services to 29 million consumers across 19 countries across Europe. It also provided 234 online betting licenses to online betting platforms. For example, the UCFB’s Global Institute of Sport (GIS) would be hosting a summit at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 8th February 2023, to monitor and discuss the issues related to problem gambling in the sports fraternity.

Sportsbooks accounted for a massive 46% of GGR whereas online casinos stood at 45%. Europe had a total of 29.8 million online punters and processed a total of 111.6 billion online stakes and bets inclusive of bonuses from its customer base. Pre march betting accounted for 66% of GGR in online sports betting of EGBA members. There are around 225 online gambling licenses in the EU across countries. They have also expanded their licensing in the Netherlands and Croatia.

How Does EGBA Promote a Safe Internet Environment?

To promote a safer, less harmful betting environment among punters at Safer Internet Day 2022, the EGBA promoted safe work and online gambling with stakeholders and other members. It focused on developing the prevention of gambling harms across Europe and also implemented the European Commission’s Recommendation regarding customer promotion. EGBA has promised to publish annual data regarding gambling harms and prevention in a transparent method. It also aims at organizing the second PAN European safe gambling week along with its entire team to enhance awareness regarding addictive gambling and its measures.

PAN European Code of Conduct

The EGBA focuses on ensuring that all gambling-related marketing and advertisements would be done in a responsible manner. For initiating that, the EGBA has been monitoring gambling popularity and its atrocities. They also plan on publishing research regarding gambling behavior among different age groups. The EGBA has developed a central resource of information for punters regarding the self-exclusion schemes available in the UK like Gamban, Gamblock, Gamstop.
