When you think of cities known for their iconic shopping and fashionable reputation, places like New York, Paris and Milan will come to mind. However, as a result of new research by Wynsors, Bath should also be included in this list as the most fashionable city in the UK, perfect for your next shopping trip!
To find out where the most fashion-friendly towns and cities in the UK are, footwear retailer Wynsors created an index by looking at the number of fashion hashtags on Instagram, the number of shopping listings on Tripadvisor and Yelp, and the total monthly search volumes for 50 style-related Google search terms for 121 UK major towns and cities. Bath comes in first place with a score of 92.56 out of 100.
It’s no wonder that the picturesque city of Bath, already known for his vast history as well as being featured in some of Britain’s best-loved period dramas, comes in top. Thanks to its incredible 9.94 shopping listings and 2.56 thrift shops per sq. mi, it’s fair to say that if you’re looking for a great city to go shopping in after payday, Bath is worth the visit! You can’t mention Bath and fashion without talking about Bath’s Fashion Museum too – a world-class archive of almost 100,000 fashion items from different time periods.
Bath also has a respectable 2,970 monthly Google searches for all-things fashion and 1,900 #bathfashion hashtags on Instagram. Plus, as the only designated UNESCO World Heritage Site that is a city in the UK, it’s not surprising that its photogenic spots make it the perfect backdrop for an Instagram post.
Danny Bergin, Sales Manager from Wynsors, comments: “The UK has such a wonderfully unique and diverse fashion scene boasting an eclectic mix of trends, so it’s great to be able to shine a light on the towns and cities in the UK that do it the best.
No outfit is complete without a pair of shoes, and as the UK’s most affordable family footwear retailer, we pride ourselves in making fashion accessible to all.”
