The UK’s leading estate agent comparison site GetAgent has revealed the areas which are selling their homes the quickest as part of their 2023 Sellers Report, which has analysed their own internal listings data to reveal the biggest trends for house-sellers in 2023.
Selling a home is an unpredictable process, with several factors playing into achieving a quick sale – and many of these factors are often out of a house-seller’s hands. As a result the process can take anything from a few weeks to several months to complete. But where in the UK can you expect to sell your house the quickest?
Top 20 postcodes which are selling their homes quickest
Homes in the HR3 postcode, located in Hay on Wye in Hereford, sold quickest in 2022, with properties taking just 32 days on average to complete – a third of the time it takes the average UK house to sell.
Several other Welsh regions ranked in the top ten quickest selling areas with Anglesey following in second position taking 34 days and three postcodes in the country of Ceredigion taking less than 60 days to sell, placing them in 5th, 8th and joint 9th positions.
Further south of England, London postcode EC1R ranked in third place overall, with homes being snapped up in just 41 days on average. Kingsbridge postcode TQ7 in Devon also had an average sale period of just 44 days.
Ranking at the bottom of the top 20 quickest destinations were postcodes in locations such as Bakewell (in the Peak District) and Liverpool City Centre – both of which ranked in joint 20th position with an average sell time of 69 days.

Colby Short, Co-Founder and CEO of GetAgent comments:
“As experts in selling a home, we know how stressful it can be to find a buyer for your property. By sharing some of our own consumer data and the trends we’ve observed over the past year; we’re hoping we can provide house sellers with some valuable insight, and top tips, in what is often a very confusing and tense time.
Living in a particular postcode can add thousands to your home’s value, whether that’s due to having prestigious schools (with catchment areas notoriously hard to get into) or even good transport links for commuters. Surprisingly, while you might assume that homes closer to the capital would fetch higher asking prices, our research actually shows that it’s countryside destinations that are topping the list of expensive postcodes.
As we’ve seen a more hybrid way of working come into play over the past couple of years, it’s clear to see that there’s demand for homes in the countryside, and even remote areas of the UK, as people leave the city life for space further afield.
Despite the turbulent year of 2022 having had an adverse effect on many homeowner’s selling prices, it’s been really positive to see that sellers in many areas of the UK were able to achieve significantly more than their original asking prices – with some northern areas of the country achieving up to 120% of theirs. Similarly, our data showed that last year some house-sellers in the UK breezed through the selling process in an average of just 30 – 50 days, showing that it’s still very achievable to find the perfect buyer with minimal stress.”
