- The original iPhone takes the first place; complete with accessories, iPhone 2G could get you £4,000.
- Close second is Vertu Constellation X, with a price tag of £3,950.
- In third place is another Vertu model, Signature Touch, which can be sold for as high as £3,500.
Despite the trend of new models coming out and lowering the prices of their predecessors, some of the old phones you might have laying around in your house could be worth more than the newest iPhone.
A new research commissioned by comparison site CasinoBee.com took a look at eBay to see how much some of the old models are worth these days.
Full list available HERE.
1. iPhone 2G
If you are one of those people who don’t throw out their old iPhone as soon as a new one hits the market, you are in luck. With accessories, the price of your iPhone 2G can reach as high as £4,000. If the accessories got lost over the years since its release in 2007, do not despair; you can sell the first generation of the most popular phone in the world for up to £1,390.
2. Vertu Constellation X
There are several Vertu phones on this list, and for a good reason. The phone brand was founded by Nokia in 1988 with the intention to sell phones as luxury accessories, a goal which they have clearly achieved. Vertu Constellation X combines the sapphire crystal glass screen and genuine alligator leather and is worth £3,950 today.
3. Vertu Signature Touch
A favourite among the fans of luxury Android phones, Signature Touch was selling for around £7,500 upon its release. If you were rich enough to buy Vertu Signature Touch when it first launched in 2014 and still have it somewhere around the house, you could get £3,500 for it.
4. Motorola Aura R1
Marketed as a luxury device when it first came out back in 2008, R1 was meant to be just the first model in a series of Motorola Aura phones. It ended up being the only one, with three special editions released subsequently. You had to cash out £2,000 in the late 2000s for it, but if you are one of the lucky owners of Motorola Aura R1, today it can bring you up to £3,280.
5. Motorola DynaTAC 8000X
The first portable phone in the world, Motorola DynaTAC was the product of 15 years of work of Dr Martin Cooper and Rudy Krolopp and their associates at Motorola. We can only imagine the revolutionary presentation of a portable phone back in the early 80s. Today, Motorola DynaTAC 8000X could bring you £2,800, that is, if you are willing to part from this piece of history.
6. Vertu Constellation Touch
An all time bestseller among the Vertu phones, Constellation Touch represented a more affordable phone from the luxury brand when it came out in 2011. Constellation Touch has no camera, as having a phone without one was considered more acceptable among their high-end customers at the time. It would cost you £4,000 to get your hands on Vertu’s first touch screen phone back in 2011, while today you could get £1,950 for it.
7. Vertu Constellation Glacier
Released in 2011, just like all other Vertu phones, Constellation Glacier’s screen is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. This specific model goes for as high as £1,690 on eBay.
8. Vertu Ascent Limited Edition
There were several limited editions of Vertu, including Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947, with which they marked the 60th anniversary of the luxury car manufacturer. Vert Ascent Ferrari, as well as Vertu Ascent Ti and Vertu Constellation 24K Gold could earn you around £1,500.
9. Mobira Cityman 900
Released in 1987, Mobira CItyman 900 was one of the first handheld cell phones. The phone is recognisable to any Lethal fans, as it was featured in several scenes of the movie. If you happen to be one of the owners of this phone and you wish to sell it, you can part from it for as high as £750.
10. Ericsson GH337
When it was released in 1994, it was the the smallest and lightest digital phone to date, and it boasted many enviable features for its time. The phone won several awards, including the Caesar Award for Best Mobile Phone of the Year. Today, this phone can be sold for £675.
