THE RICHEST ESPORTS PLAYERS IN THE WORLD 

  • Johan ‘N0tail’ Sundstein comes out on top with a massive total of £5,962,855.  
  • In second place is Jesse ‘JerAx’ Vainikka earning £5,384,167. 
  • Third place belongs to Anathan ‘ana’ Pham who has gained 100% of his earnings of £5,000,261 through Dota 2.  

A new study reveals the top highest-paid eSports players globally.  

The study by online casino comparison service kingcasinobonus.uk found out who the highest earning eSports gamers are by who won the most prize money overall worldwide. All the top 21 ranking players have all mainly earned their income through Dota 2.  

Top of the rich list is Johan ‘N0tail’ Sundstein, a 29-year-old Danish. N0tail’s overall winnings amount to £5,962,855 from competing in 130 Tournaments. The most money that he has won from a single tournament is £2,599,354 from The International 2019, when he played for the OG team. His team placed first, making up 43% of his total prize money won. Just the year before N0tail was featured in Forbes’ 30 under 30 in gaming at the age of 25. 

Second highest earning, with a total of £5,384,167 is Finnish player Jesse ‘JerAx’ Vainikka. Out of the 68 tournaments awarding cash prizes that JerAx has competed in, the largest amount he won was £2,599,354, the same as N0tail when they competed in the same team in 2019. His first-place finish made up 48% of his overall total prize money won. 

In at third is 23-year-old Australian player Anathan ‘ana’ Pham, who has won £5,000,261. As a member of OG, he has played in three Internationals, winning in both 2018 and 2019, and has also won two major championships tournaments. Out of the 26 tournaments awarding cash prizes that ana has competed in, the largest amount was also from his first-place finish with the OG team making up 51% of his total prize money won.  

Ranking fourth richest is Frenchman Sébastien ‘Ceb’ Debs, former member of OG team. Ceb has earned £4,833,844 from 67 tournaments. His win in The International 2019 made him the most money, which was £2,599,354, making up 53% of his overall total money won.  

Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen is fifth richest and ranks as the second richest player from Finland. Topson is 24 years old and has earned £4,730,160 overall from 33 tournaments. The most money that he has won from a tournament was £2,599,354 from when competed with the OG team. His first place finish makes up 54% of his total money won. 

In sixth place is 30-year-old Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi from Germany £4,383,352.62 from 126 tournaments. The largest winning amount was £1,807,658 from The International 2017. He placed first with Team Liquid, making up 41% of his total prize money won. His biggest earning comes from Dota 2, a huge 99.97% of it, but he has also previously won money when playing Defence of the Ancients and Artifact Classic.  

Seventh in the world ranking is Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi who is 25 years old and from Jordan. He has competed in 77 tournaments and has earned £4,052,130. Miracle- was also in Team Liquid in 2017 earning the same largest winning amount as KuroKy. His first-place win makes up 44% of his total prize money won. 

Lasse “Matumbaman” Urpalainen is ranked at number eight and is the third highest earning eSports player from Finland. Matumbaman has earned £4,044,931. From 87 tournaments and the biggest pay out was £1,807,658 from Team Liquid’s win in 2017, this first-place finish also makes up 44% of his total prize money won.  

Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov from Bulgaria comes in ninth place with £3,872,082 from 87 tournaments. Following closely behind in tenth place is Maroun “GH” Merhej from Lebanon with £3,551,947 from 66 tournaments. Both players earned their highest win of £1,807,658 in 2017 when competing in Team Liquid.  

A spokesperson from kingcasinobonus.uk commented on the findings: “eSports has redefined sport and is seeing increased growth every year, with the number of fans predicted to grow to 318 million in 2025, which is incredible to see. It’s fascinating to note the earnings of eSports players, as it reflects the industry’s popularity worldwide, with millions of dollars available to elite players. The 21 highest earning players all play Dota 2, whilst the 22nd ranking player Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf from the USA, is a Fortnite player.”
