Ammanford returned from a trip to reigning Champions Llantwit Major on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought point in this JD Cymru South fixtures.
Ammanford were dealt an early blow with Lee Trundle having to leave the pitch with injury in the sixth minute.
It was in form Major who started the match on the front foot but were unable to test Ammanford keeper Craig Morris.
Both teams were finding conditions tough with a strong wind and uneven pitch making football difficult.
Jordan Langley had the away team’s first chance but his shot cleared the crossbar.
It was Langley who put Ammanford ahead in the 21st minute when his volley deflected past Major keeper Jack Lansdown.
The home team were having difficulty containing the lively Langley, making his return to the starting lineup following time on the bench due to a hamstring injury.
Major were restricted to half chances due to a resilient away rearguard with Morris dealing comfortably with any shots at goal.
Major took to the pitch for the second half looking to get back into the game and it was an excellent block from Liam Samuel that prevented an equaliser just after the break.
Major equalised in the 65th minute when Joel Woodington shot into an empty net after an Owain Edwards effort rebounded off a post.
Ammanford were the better team and only a Lansdown save from a point blank Tom Pratt header kept the score level.
Tyler Jackson had an opportunity to put Major ahead but after breaking free from the Ammanford defence could only shoot into the side netting.
Matthew Fisher came close for Ammaford ten minutes from time when his 25 yard free kick sailed narrowly wide.
Another Fisher free kick was spilled by Lansdown who recovered to get to the loose ball before the onrushing Langley.
Ammanford were unable to find the winning goal and had to settle for a point in a match that they will feel they could have won.
Another good point on the road but draws will need to turn into wins if they are to avoid the drop.
