  • IRONMAN are excited to announce that The University of Wales Trinity Saint David will once again be sponsoring IRONKIDSĀ® Wales in 2023

In 2023, Tenby will once again host IRONKIDSĀ® Wales, where thousands of children will go through their paces through the town for a chance to finish under the iconic IRONMAN Wales finish arch. IRONKIDSĀ® Wales takes place Saturday, 2 September 2023 with registration for the 2023 IRONKIDSĀ® Wales event opening Tuesday, 21 March 2023 at 14:00 BST.

The event sees children between the ages of 4 to 15 take part in in a run of various distances. With the 4 – 5-year-old age group category taking on a 500m run, 6 – 10-year olds taking on a 1km run, and 11 – 15-year olds taking on a 1.5km run. All participants who complete their distances receive a finisherā€™s medal and finisherā€™s T-shirt.

ā€œI am delighted that entries have re-opened for IRONKIDSĀ® Wales 2023. After an enforced absence since the last IRONKIDSĀ® event held in 2019, it will be great to see Tenby full of young runners once again. The event has an brilliant atmosphere and by partaking in this amazing event I am hopeful that it will help encourage all participants to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle as they move through lifeā€ says Rebecca Sutherland, IRONKIDSĀ® Wales Race Director.

Entries are traditionally sold out within the first month of registration opening, which is one of the indications of how popular the event is. Registration opens at 14:00 this Tuesday, 21 March at 14:00 BST at https://www.ironman.com/im-wales-register

Programme Manager for International Events, Tourism and Leisure Resort Management programmes at UWTSD, Jacqui Jones, said: ā€œWe have been collaborating with IRONMAN Wales since its inception in 2011 to provide a wealth of experiences for our tourism and event students. As well as guest lectures this has already led to excellent internship and volunteer opportunities helping our students develop exciting careers in tourism and events. Itā€™s wonderful to now develop the partnership to include IRONKIDS providing additional opportunities across the UWTSD Group for students and staff to further academic engagement with such an inspirational event.ā€

The IRONMAN Wales race weekend will kick off on Saturday, 2 September with IRONKIDSĀ® Wales taking centre stage, followed by IRONMAN Wales on Sunday, 3 September.
