Erling Haaland has matched Luis Suárez’s 2013/14 Premier League tally of 28 goals after 26 games, and can beat Suárez’s rate through 27 games if he scores two or more goals in Manchester City’s next game against Suárez’s former club Liverpool.

Haaland currently sits at 28 goals after 26 games played, a scoring rate of 1.077 goals per game. This is an exceptional achievement, which previously had only been managed by Luis Suárez’s performance through 26 games in his fantastic 2013/14 Premier League campaign for Liverpool. If Haaland scores two or more goals in Manchester City’s next game against Liverpool, Suárez’s former club, he will beat Suárez’s tally of 29 goals after 27 games, a scoring rate of 1.074 goals per game. With at least two goals in the next game, Haaland would have a minimum rate of 1.111 goals per game with at least 30 goals after 27 games.

In 2013/14, Suárez managed to equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s 31 goal Premier League record for a 38-game season in that outstanding season, scoring another three goals in his last seven games to complete his campaign with 31 goals. After 33 games, Suárez’s scoring rate finished at 0.939 goals per game.

This was set by Andy Cole for Newcastle United in 1992/93 over 40 games and matched by Alan Shearer for Blackburn Rovers in 1993/94 over 42 games. Haaland would beat this record by six goals with only a possible 38 games for him to play in 2022/23.
