According to new research, Aldi has reached the top spot as the cheapest UK supermarket to shop for all of your Easter essentials.
The arrival of spring means one thing – Easter. The bank holiday weekend is the perfect time to celebrate with your family over food and do quintessentially ‘Easter’ activities such as egg hunts and crafts. However, the Easter period can get expensive, particularly if you have children who are off school, so knowing where to stock up on your Easter treats is a good way to save money and still celebrate.
Consumer finance experts at Little-Loans.com conducted research to find the prices of your favourite Easter essentials at eight leading UK supermarkets to find out which supermarket is the good egg for having the cheapest Easter products.
Each supermarket was ranked from one to eight, with one being the cheapest and eight being the most expensive. Aldi, the supermarket beloved by Brits for their discounted products, unsurprisingly came in the number one spot.
The items included in the Easter costings were typical and traditional items Brits may buy to celebrate the holiday, including a seasonal spring mini roast dinner, which were:
- Hot cross buns
- Easter eggs
- Cadbury’s mini eggs
- Daffodils
- Chocolate bunny
- Cadbury’s Creme Eggs
- Kinder Egg Suprise
- Carrots
- Parsnips
- Lamb
The findings found that Aldi is the cheapest supermarket to shop for your Easter essentials, where you can get the ten items above for a total price of £21.29.
Tesco came in second, but just slightly behind Aldi, at £21.41, followed by ASDA where the Easter bundle will cost you £21.96; both very much showing to be cost effective supermarkets.
However, it was M&S that came in last, where Easter essentials are predicted to cost £29.85, which is a 33% price increase to that of Aldi, clearly highlighting which supermarket is the fan favourite for money-saving Easter spending.
Rank | Supermarket | Total Price |
1 | Aldi | £21.29 |
2 | Tesco | £21.41 |
3 | ASDA | £21.96 |
4 | Morrisons | £22.14 |
5 | Lidl | £22.57 |
6 | Sainsbury’s | £25.47 |
7 | Waitrose | £29.50 |
8 | M&S | £29.85 |
Commenting on the findings, Dan Whittaker from Little-Loans.com said:
“The Easter weekend means more time off work and usually marks the start of warmer weather in the UK, making it the perfect time to get together with family and friends to celebrate. However, the cost of living crisis is still at large in the UK, so it’s important that Brits should proactively assess which supermarket offers the cheapest Easter essentials in order to save wherever possible.”
“Aldi consistently proves to be the supermarket that offers products for an extremely attractive price tag. Unsurprisingly, Aldi has yet again beaten the competition of seven other leading supermarkets to be crowned the cheapest supermarket to gather your Easter essentials from.”
Little-Loans.com have released these findings to uncover how much it will cost Brits to buy Easter Essentials at leading UK supermarkets, highlighting which shop is the cheapest.
