The five most engaged fanbases in the NFL
Below is a table highlighting the top five most engaged fanbases in the NFL:
Ranking | NFL Teams | Total engagement (in the last 12 months) |
1 | Buffalo Bills | 6,719,513 |
2 | Dallas Cowboys | 5,033,472 |
3 | Denver Broncos | 4,302,317 |
4 | Detroit Lions | 3,836,741 |
5 | Kansas City Chiefs | 3,476,008 |
Taking the top spot are fans of the Buffalo Bills, aka the Bills Mafia, who are certainly vocal about their support for the team online, with a total engagement score of 6,719,513 in the last 12 months. This refers to the number of instances where fans have shared articles relating to the franchise.
Next up are fans of the Dallas Cowboys who’ve achieved a total engagement score of more than 5 million over the last year, followed by the Denver Broncos (4.3 million). In fact, engagement for the Broncos peaked in March 2022 (917,829), which was around the time quarterback Russell Wilson was traded from the Seattle Seahawks – something fans likely had big opinions about.
Fourth place goes to the Detroit Lions fanbase, with a total engagement score of 3,836,741. Back in December 2022, there was quite a bit of buzz about their hopes for making the playoffs, and this was actually their most engaged month (672,986).
Rounding out the top five are fans of the Kansas City Chiefs. After recently taking victory at the Super Bowl, it’s perhaps no surprise that February 2023 was their month with the highest engagement – at 1,796,349 – which is over half of their total for the last year (3,476,008).
How about the other team that made the Super Bowl? Well, it’s not looking quite as good for the Philadelphia Eagles as they just make the top 10 in eighth place. Much like the Chiefs, Eagles fans went wild online around the time of the big game, reaching over a million engagements in that month alone. This is almost half of their total engagement over the entire year at 2,235,946.
The most reactive fanbases in the NFL
Now we’ve revealed the most engaged fanbases in the NFL, which are the most likely to give a quick thumbs up or love heart to a post about their team?
